Basic Policies on Respect for Human Rights

In the NuFlare Technology Group Standards of Conduct, we stipulate adherence to all relevant laws and regulations, respect for fundamental human rights, and prohibition of discriminatory treatment, child labor, and forced labor. These standards require all our directors and employees to accord respect to diverse values, individuality, and privacy of individuals, prohibit discriminatory behavior based on race, religion, gender, nationality, disability, age, or sexual orientation, and prohibit physical abuse, sexual harassment, abuse of power and any other actions that disregard the dignity and individuality of others.

Basic Policies

NuFlare Technology shall:

  1. Accept the different values of individuals and respect differences in character and personality based on a fundamental respect for human rights.
  2. Respect basic human rights on top of observing laws and regulations, and shall not engage in acts of discrimination or condone use of either child labor or forced labor.
  3. As an enterprises, respond promptly to any acts within NuFlare Technology that infringe upon basic human rights and act resolutely to ensure the termination of such infringement.
  4. Develop a working environment where employees may perform their duties creatively and efficiently so that they may achieve a work/life balance (i.e., balance between work and home).
  5. Endeavor to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for employees.

Prohibition of Child Labor and Forced Labor

NuFlare Technology respects human dignity and aims to create an organization full of diversity and creativity. Toshiba Group Companies joined the UN Global Compact in 2004 to show their support for, and practice, the universal principles concerning human rights and labor. In line with the Compact, NuFlare Technology also stipulates, in the NuFlare Technology Standards of Conduct, respect for human rights and prohibition of discriminatory treatment, child labor, and forced labor, and works to ensure compliance with them.

Protection of Personal Information of Employees

NuFlare Technology obtains and uses personal information of employees only after obtaining consent for the purpose of use. The General Affairs Department plays a central role in strictly managing personal information of employees.

Prevention of Harassment

The NuFlare Technology Group Standards of Conduct, a code of conduct for directors and employees, stipulates respect for diverse values, individuality, privacy of individuals, prohibition of discriminatory behavior based on race, religion, gender, nationality, disability, age, or sexual orientation, and prohibition of physical abuse, sexual harassment, abuse of power, discriminatory behavior based on pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare leave, SOGI and any other actions that disregard the dignity and individuality of others. In accordance with this policy, our employment regulations prohibit sexual harassment and other actions that disregard the human rights of others and stipulate disciplinary punishment for any person found guilty of violating this policy.

Provision of Consulting Services for Employees

NuFlare Technology has set up a “Corporate Ethics Helpline,” which employees can turn to for help and advice about their personal worries and concerns. Specific departments or personnel respond to employee inquiries via telephone, fax, e-mail, or postal mail regarding problems related to violations of corporate ethics or illegal acts, or acts that may constitute the same, including sexual harassment and other matters about which they may feel uncomfortable consulting with or reporting to their workplace superiors.

Establishment of the Employee Consultation Center

In addition to providing e-learning programs on human rights, an Employee Consultation Center is set up to enable employees to share any problems they may have. Employees can get counseling about problems concerning the working environment, human relations, and personnel affairs, as well as sexual and power harassment and discriminatory behavior based on pregnancy, childbirth, childcare leave ,SOGI and any other problems over the phone, by email, or post.

Conflict Minerals Initiatives

NuFlare Technology refuses to purchase conflict minerals, the production of which is believed to have involved violations of human rights. At the same time, we also discourage its business partners from using conflict minerals
